It’s that time of year again! KOLOCares has begun the 2024 Fan Drive and we are looking for new, in-the-box fans for Carson City seniors in need this summer. Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning has donated more than 450 fans to the Carson City Senior Center in the past five years. This year we hope to have enough fans for every senior in need.

Many of our Carson City seniors live in homes in that might not have central air conditioning, or running the AC system all summer might be too costly. Fans provide cooling air movement and contribute greatly to the health and wellness of our seniors. If you are able, please consider donating a fan this summer. None of this would be possible without the help received from the community!

Dirk Roper said the fans may be picked up by a Roper’s service technician during a service call, or dropped by the Roper’s office, located at 2062 S. Edmonds Drive in Carson City, or the Carson City Senior Center Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 911 Beverly Drive.

“Our hottest months are upon us,” he said. “For our seniors who may not have air conditioning, a fan can move air around and create a cooling effect. Seniors are extremely sensitive to excessive heat and a fan can make a big difference in their health and welfare this summer.”

Seniors aged 60 or older are eligible to receive a new fan from the Carson City Senior Center.
