Why is my AC not cooling?
If your AC is running but the air isn't cold, there are a few usual suspects:
Dirty Air Filter: A clogged filter restricts airflow, causing the evaporator coil to freeze up.
Thermostat Settings: Double-check that it’s set to "Cool" and the fan is on "Auto."
Refrigerant Leak: Low refrigerant levels mean the system can't remove heat effectively.
Dirty Condenser Unit: If the outdoor unit is covered in dirt or debris, it can’t release the heat it gathered from inside.
How often should I change my HVAC filters?
For standard 1" to 3" filters, the rule of thumb is every 3 months. However, you should change them every 30 to 60 days if:
You have pets.
Someone in the home has allergies or asthma.
You live in a particularly dusty area.
What size system do I need?
HVAC sizing is not a "bigger is better" situation. A system that is too large will "short-cycle," turning on and off rapidly, which wastes energy. A system that is too small will run constantly and still not reach the target temperature.
