At Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning, comfort is more than a service, it’s a promise. Since 1978, our family-owned business has served Northern Nevada with precision, professionalism, and heart. And at the core of it all are the skilled technicians who dedicate themselves every day to ensuring our customers live in safe, comfortable homes.

Becoming a service technician isn’t easy, and it shouldn’t be. Our techs may undergo rigorous training, complete accredited HVAC programs, participate in on-the-job training, and earn industry certifications such as EPA Section 608 for refrigerant handling and NATE (North American Technician Excellence), the gold standard for HVAC excellence. They also participate in ongoing education and manufacturer-specific training to stay current with the latest technologies in energy-efficient systems, smart thermostats, and ventilation solutions. Any or all of these might be approaches that are taken. It’s a career built on science, problem-solving, and technical expertise.

Fred Roper covered in oil during his oil burning furnace daysBut their impact goes beyond tools and technical know-how. Whether crawling under homes in the cold of winter or troubleshooting failing A/C systems during scorching desert heat, these professionals show up with integrity and compassion. They embody the values instilled by our founder, Fred Roper, who believed deeply in service — not just to customers, but to the community.

June 2, 2022 was declared Fred Roper Day by Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell, upon Fred’s retirement after 70 years in the home comfort business. More than a technician, Fred instilled a solid work ethic and a love for community to his son Dirk, who took over the business with his wife Autumn in 2012.

Dirk has played Santa at the Boys & Girls Club, handing out sweatshirts and beanies he personally contributed to the cost of. He participates in the annual KOLO Cares Fan Drive, collecting and donating hundreds of new box fans for seniors in need. He made sure Easter baskets were filled for local children and that Roper’s stood behind school sponsorships year after year.

Today, our technicians carry that same spirit forward. They don’t just repair heating and cooling systems — they protect families, ensure safe indoor air, and bring peace of mind to neighbors across Carson City, Dayton, the Carson Valley, and Reno.

We also couldn’t do it without our amazing office team who are the front lines of our customer service. Their work is invaluable.

So today, we say thank you. Thank you to our team who never stop learning, never stop caring and proudly uphold the Roper’s legacy.

You are the heartbeat of home comfort. And we are proud to call you part of the Roper’s family.
